The Annotations service is a web application, thus all you need to use it is a web browser with javascript enabled.

The Annotations service has been successfully tested on the major web browsers (IE 7+, Firefox 3.0+, Safari, Opera and Chrome) and on the three main operating systems (Linux, MacOS X and Windows).
