WASP-78 has a common proper motion companion in the Gaia DR2 catalog
at separation 42" not yet (as of 3/2019) listed in Washington Double
Star Catalog. Here are the Gaia DR2 numbers:

RA, Dec = 063.75626616737, -22.11639009500 (ICRS, epoch 2015.5)
plx = 1.2968 +- 0.0292 mas
pmRA, pmDec = -0.463, 6.424 (+-0.042, 0.044) mas/yr
G = 12.1879 +- 0.0002
WASP-78 B = Gaia DR2 5089851638095502592 = 2MASS J04150416-2207189
RA, Dec = 063.76740533482, -22.12190932680 (ICRS, epoch 2015.5)
plx = 1.2879 +- 0.0305 mas
pmRA, pmDec = -0.366, 6.313 (+-0.044, 0.046) mas/yr
G = 15.2090 +- 0.0004
separation = 42".129, PA = 118.14 deg
Smalley+2012 (2012A&A...547A..61S) point out 2MASS J04150416-2207189
in their paper as affecting their WASP photometry ("which is just
within the photometric extraction aperture"), but there is no comment
whether it could be a companion of WASP-78.
