WASP-49 is a binary (WDS J06044-1658) of separation 2.3", which Evans+2018 (2018A&A...610A..20E) concludes is a physical pair. The pair is resolved in Gaia DR2, and the physicality is obvious by the common proper motion and parallax:
WDS J06044-1658A = WASP-49 A = Gaia DR2 2991284369063612928
RA,Dec = 091.08971929732, -16.96539007737 (ICRS, epoch 2015.5)
plx = 5.1113 +- 0.0314 mas
pmRA, pmDec = 54.769, -19.061 (+-0.050, 0.056) mas/yr
G = 11.2907 +- 0.0005
WDS J06044-1658B = WASP-49 B = Gaia DR2 2991284162905572992
RA,Dec = 091.08974759926, -16.96601842821 (ICRS, epoch 2015.5)
plx = 4.9687 +- 0.1710 mas
pmRA, pmDec = 56.049, -18.136 (+-0.313, 0.428) mas/yr
G = 16.7756 +- 0.0062
Evans+2018 estimates photometric Teff of 3220+-100K for the companion,
and the absolute G magnitude is also suggestive of a mid-M dwarf.
