(12) E. B. Knobel (1895) "On a Catalogue of Stars in the Calendarium of Mohammad Al Achsasi Al Mouakket" (MNRAS 55, 429) [Arabic "Aoul al Debaran" = Latin "Prima al Debaran" = 'first of the debaran or the followers [of the Pleiades]'].
(13) Richard Hinckley Allen (1899) "Star-names and their meanings" (G.E. Stechert, New York) ["Hyadum I... synonymously, Primus Hyadum, or, more correctly, as with Flamsteed, Prima Hyadum" or "Awwal al Dabaran" = 'First of the Dabaran'].

The name does not appear in either the 1515 or 1527 printings of the Almagest, but it appears at least by the late 16th century. "Hyadum I" signifies "first of the Hyades", and the Hyades are feminine plural, therefore the Latin form "Prima Hyadum" is more correct than variant "Hyadum Primus".
