Lambda Her (HR 6526) is also known by the proper name "Maasym" (or variants) in various astronomical references:
(1) Ioannis Bayeri Rhainani I.C. (1603), Uranometria ["Maasym"].
(2) Ludewig Ideler (1809) "Untersuchungen über den Ursprung und die Bedeutung der Sternnamen" (Berlin) ["Maasym", also "Masym", "Mi'sam"].
(3) Joseph Piazzi (1814) "Praecipuarum Stellarum Inerrantium Positiones Mediae Ineunte Saeculo XIX. Ex Observationibus Habitis In Specula Panormitana Ab anno 1792 ad annum 1813" ["Maasym"].
(4) Richard Hinckley Allen (1899) "Star-names and their meanings" (G.E. Stechert, New York) ["Masym, Maasym, Maasim, Mazyum, Mazim, and Masini are from the Arabic Mi'sam, the Wrist"].
(8) Helmet Werner & Felix Schmeidler (1986) "Synopsis der Nomenklatur der Fixsterne = Synopsis of the Nomenclature of the Fixed Stars" Wissenschaftliche Verlagsgesellschaft mbH Stuffgart ["Maasym", also for omi Her].
(9) Dorris Hoffleit & Carlos Jaschek (1991) "The Bright Star Catalogue" (5th edition; Yale University Observatory, New Haven, CT, USA) ["Maasym; Masym; Misam"].
(10) Paul Kunitzsch & Tim Smart (2006) "A Short Guide to 254 Star Names and Their Derivations" (2nd Revised Edition, Sky Publishing, Cambridge MA, USA) ["Maasym"].
The history of the name is discussed in Allen (1899) and Kunitzsch & Smart (2006). According to Ideler (1809) and Allen (1899), the name (as a description) had been previously assigned to Omicron Her in the Almagest (Ptolomy, e.g. 1515 Latin edition), but after Bayer's (1603) transcription error of this name to Lambda Her, the name "Maasym" has stuck exclusively with Lambda Her for the past four+ centuries.
