Thanks for your detailed response. The T6.5 spectral type is in the notes (note "b") at the bottom of Table 4 in Kirkpatrick et al. (2011). It seems that the T5.5 spectral type is preferred in that paper, but I mentioned the T6.5 note because it is based on a newer spectrum and is supported in the Mace et al. (2013) paper.
