Unpublished carbon star by Kurtanidze with position accuracy 2 in Alksnis+ (2001) catalogue. I found no acceptable candidate in a 2' radius of the quoted position except for 2MASSJ 00354822+6016380 = Tycho2 4016-01235-1 but it is classified K5V. The measured proper motion seems inconsistent with a distant giant. From available photometry I deduce E(B-V)=0.15 with K5d. For a distant star the extinction maps yield E(B-V)=0.54 and the photometry is roughly consistent with a hot carbon star HC0.5-HC1.0 reddened by about E(B-V)=0.52.
The issue could be an oxygen-rich cool star erroneously catalogued as a carbon star, but this remains questionable. Any information welcome.
