The optical colors of this star are incorrect due to an error in importing table 2 from
2006AJ....132..111J
.
For this star HD 29159 = GSC 01266-01175, SIMBAD currently lists an implausible set of magnitudes:
B = 10.212
V=9.345
R = 5.745
I = 5.326
J = 7.860
The optical colors come from
2006AJ....132..111J
, but looking at Table 2 in that paper shows the discrepancy:
V = 9.345 (ok)
B-V = 0.867 so B = 10.212 (ok)
V-R = 0.467 so R = 8.878 (different!)
R-I = 0.419 so I = 8.459 (different! but same R-I color as listed in SIMBAD now)
I conclude that the R column was somehow incorrectly computed from V-R, and this causes errors in both the R and I columns imported from that table.
This problem appears to affect many stars (all?) with photometry from that source. See for instance HD 28805, HD 28992 and HD 28977.
