Sh 2-279 seems to have a wrong declination sign associated; according to the original list of
Sharpless (1959)
, the coordinates are RA 05 30 24 -04 52 00 (1900), which transforms into 05 35 20 -04 48 03 (J2000). This and the description given by Sharpless suggest that Sh2-279 is identical with NGC 1977.
