The identification HR 6952 = HD 170868 and HR 6953 = HD 170867 comes from the Bright Star Catalog. In the original Harvard Revised Photometry (1908) (http://cdsads.u-strasbg.fr//full/1908AnHar..50....1P/0000168.000.html), the stars are identified as HR 6952 = CD-38 12896 and HR 6953 = CD-38 12895. In the HD the brighter is HD 170868 = CD-38 12895. It seems therefore that the Bright Star Catalog swapped effectively the 2 HD numbers. Simbad was corrected accordingly, and an appropriate note added.
