The cross-identification between M 24 and NGC 6603 comes from
Becker & Fenkart 1971, A&AS4 p241
. In his catalogue
Leisawitz 1988 (OCISM)
also list M 24 as NGC 6603. Checking on images i would say that only one open cluster can be clearly identified, with a center which would be roughly at dec = -18 24 15. So i would conclude that the cross-id in Simbad is correct, but that position has to be corrected.
What are the arguments and references to list M24 and NGC 6603 as two different clusters ?
