46 LMi (HR 4247) is known by the proper name "Praecipua" in the Bright Star Catalog and several astronomical references:
(1) Richard Hinckley Allen (1899) "Star-names and their meanings" (G.E. Stechert, New York)
(2) Jack W. Rhoads (1971) "Technical Memorandum 33-507: A Reduced Star Catalog Containing 537 Named Stars", Jet Propulsion Laboratory California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, USA
(3) Dorris Hoffleit & Carlos Jaschek (1991) "The Bright Star Catalogue" (5th edition; Yale University Observatory, New Haven, CT, USA)
(4) P. Moore (2006) "The Amateur Astronomer" (12th edition, Springer)
(5) E. Anderson E. & C. Francis (2012, Astron. Letters, 38, 331) "XHIP: An Extended Hipparcos Compilation" (2012AstL...38..331A)
Allen (1899) attributes the name to Hevelius (1690; "Firmamentum Sobiescianum" star atlas), however the name does not appear on the atlas's star map, and I. Ridpath (http://www.ianridpath.com/startales/leominor.htm) comments that he was unable to find mention of "Praecipua" in Hevelius's work. Piazzi (1814, Palermo Catalog) listed the name for HR 4166 (37 LMi), however this appears to be erroneous and is not replicated elsewhere (other than von Zach 1816, which repeated the names from Piazzi 1814 verbatim). Modern works (e.g. Bright Star Catalog) have followed Allen (1899) and attributed the name "Praecipua" to 46 LMi.
