Zeta Pup (HR 3165) currently (1/5/2016) has 3 proper names listed in SIMBAD: "Naos", "Suhail Hadar", and "Muliphein". The unique name "Naos" is the most commonly used name for this star over the past two centuries, while "Suhail Hadar" and "Muliphein" (or variants) are rarely or never used in the astronomical literature, and are duplicative with other stars (see below). These latter two names should probably be omitted from SIMBAD to avoid confusion.
Zeta Pup (HR 3165), formerly the Zeta star in Argo Navis (pre-IAU constellation frequently used in pre-1920s literature), is called "Naos" in the following astronomical references:
(1) Joseph Piazzi (1814) "Praecipuarum Stellarum Inerrantium Positiones Mediae Ineunte Saeculo XIX. Ex Observationibus Habitis In Specula Panormitana Ab anno 1792 ad annum 1813" ["Naos"].
(2) Elijah Hinsdale Burritt (1840) "The Geography of the Heavens, and Class Book of Astronomy; Accompanied by a Celestial Atlas" (5th Edition, with an introduction by Thomas Dick. New York, F.J. Huntington and Co.) ["Naos"].

The history of the names are discussed further in Allen (1899) and Kunitzsch & Smart (2006). A.M.H. Samaha (1936) lists "Soheil Talkine" as an ancient Arabic name for this star, and attribute it to the 10th century Persian astronomer as-Sufi (often called Al Sufi or Azophi in the west), however I can find no other astronomical reference which uses this name for zet Pup. Allen (1899) quotes the alias "Suhail Hadar" for zeta Pup (zeta Argo Navis) also from Al Sufi, and this is listed as an alias in The Bright Star Catalogue (5th Edition; Hoffleit & Warren 1991), but that name does not appear to be used anywhere else. Allen (1899) also states that zet Pup (zet Arg) was "one of the Muhlifain" with gamma Argus (now gamma Velorum) and lambda Argus (now lambda Velorum). The names with "Suhail", "Hadar", and "Muhlifain" (or their variants) are not unique, and these names (or combinations thereof) have been used more often for other stars (e.g. gam Vel, bet Cen, gam CMa, etc.) than for zeta Pup. Since Piazzi (1814) adopted "Naos" in the Palermo Catalogue, this name has been standard in the astronomical literature over the past two centuries.
