The position and equivalence comes from the Revised NGC (Sulentic 1973, Cat. VII/1); Corwin (2004, Cat. VII/239) and NED assume that NGC 3794 and NGC 3804 refer to the same galaxy. From to-day, Simbad adopts the same assumption.
