Based on scans of two near-ir, objective-prism plates in the Case collection at PARI/APDA, neither this star, USNO-A2.0 1500-09918318, nor the nearby redder star USNO-A2.0 1500-09916524, are carbon stars. They appear to be early to mid-M type.
